Women in Art
We would like to take International Women’s History Month as an opportunity to highlight some of the great women artists in our collection. When the Guerrilla Girls famously pointed out to the art world how low the levels of art made by women were in national museums it hopefully signalled a turning point in history. It was impossible to show everything we have in the library by inspiring female artists so we put some staff favourites and some interesting theory and history to get the reading started. Scroll down to listen to a podcast by Katy Hessel, the author of ‘The story of art without men’.
