Publications
Journals and magazines cannot be taken out on loan, but you are welcome to browse the latest issues and back copies held on the first floor of the Library.
Journals and magazines are a valuable source of visual and written material to help you in your research. It’s a good idea to get to know the titles related to your course because:
- They are up to date.
- Often the material in them covers contemporary activity and news.
- Young animators and designers will be covered in journals long before they are covered by books.
Below you will find a small selection of magazines and journals related to your course.
To see all of your course publications, use the link at the bottom of this list.
Selected BA Interior Design publications:
Modernist
"the modernist offers unique perspectives on 20th-century architecture and design. With its pages full of bus stops, B-roads and concrete — you won’t find any swaying fields of wheat here. But don’t be fooled by all the municipal mundanity; warm and endearingly nerdy, this is an unconventional but nonetheless idyllic picture of Britain. In these strange times, there is solace to be found in the quiet fanaticism of this magazine." (Stack Magazines)
Interiors
Brings together the best critical work on the analysis of all types of spaces. This journal investigates the complexities of the interior environment’s composition and its impact on the inhabitant from a trans-disciplinary perspective.
Icon
British architecture and design magazine established in 2003 by Marcus Fairs.
Home Cultures
An interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to the critical understanding of the domestic sphere, its artefacts, spaces and relations, across time-frames and cultures.
FX
FX reports on the design of offices, hotels, healthcare, education and leisure interiors, as well as fostering debate and discussion within the design industry.
